Building a Vital Church
Building capacity for a Church that leads with justice, dignity and relevance.

Why it matters
With our partners, we aim to help make the Church more credible and relevant, and the world more just and sustainable.
Inspired by the vision of the late Pope Francis and the tradition of Catholic Social Teaching, we continue to work for the renewal and revitalisation of the Church.
The Catholic Church continues to be one of the most influential faith communities in the world. But it is facing multiple challenges that have weakened its credibility and societal relevance.
With greater capacities at a structural, organisational and individual level, it can become a more effective force for good in the world.
What we do
We recognise the need for faith that inspires and gives a sense of purpose, especially to the younger generation. This requires continual openness to innovation. We support governance reform to increase accountability and inclusion.
We back relevant leadership training to meet the changing needs of Church and society. And we support deeper engagement with those at the margins. To achieve all this, we push for stronger networking and collaboration to build connections between faith communities and externally with civil society and development actors.
Where we work
We prioritise our work with partners in many countries across the six regions Porticus works in.
