People on the Move

Putting human dignity at the centre of migration.

Why it matters

Migration has always been part of the human story. Today, more than 270 million people live outside their country of birth, moving for reasons ranging from conflict and climate change to education, work, and the search for a better future.

For many, migration creates opportunities for safety, belonging, and hope.

Yet the journey is often uncertain. Women and adolescent girls, unaccompanied children, undocumented migrants, and those in precarious work face particular risks. Behind every statistic is a person whose dignity must be protected.

What we do

We approach migration as first and foremost a human story. We support initiatives that safeguard dignity and strengthen agency for people on the move.

Our work focuses on funding three priorities:

  • Leadership and movement building: supporting migrant leaders to influence policy and public opinion in favour of dignity, self-determination, and well-being.
  • Alternatives to detention: advancing rights-based approaches that respect human dignity and move away from harmful practices.
  • Safe pathways and decent work: working with governments, civil society, and communities to create fair migration models, including community sponsorship of refugees.

Where we work

We collaborate with partners across Africa, Asia, Europe, the Middle East, Latin America, and North America.
